If Chase Sapphire and Chase Sapphire Preferred were two sisters, PlasticIQ would definitely want to date Sapphire Preferred. With Sapphire Preferred, you get a rather super-sized initial spend bonus (50K points instead of 10K), and you get a 25% bump in the value of your points when you redeem for airfare or hotel (making the initial 50K spend bonus worth a cool $625!).

The Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature card (for short, let’s call it the Chase Marriott Visa card) is a regular top three finisher in the hotel reward cards category based on the PlasticIQ Ranking Engine. The Hilton Honors American Express card is a serious player in the hotel credit card space. It’s currently a top 3 card (based on PlasticIQ’s standard spending profile) when we screen for hotel credit cards using the PIQ Ranking Engine. Perhaps a slightly more serious player is the Starwood Preferred Guest Card from Amex, but you should review both carefully before deciding which piece of plasstic to mate with.

The Citi Hilton HHonors Visa credit card offers points for everyday purchases, along with additional points for specific category purchases. Points can be redeemed for free nights at Hilton properties worldwide. There is no annual fee for this card.
