Are there restrictions on receiving 10 points per transaction? I often use my credit card at a local convenient store to buy a bottled water or something for a dollar. Does that mean I would receive 11 points? That seems like a loop hole they would somehow prohibit.

Eric + Jude: Firstly, thanks for pointing this out. I have added this to the post to capture the points raised by Eric. Let me add a couple more thoughts as well. Regarding the 2% bonus when you purchase airfare, this is already factored into the PlasticIQ Ranking Engine--so when you provide your spending profile, it will double points on your airfare spend category. Regarding additional bonuses earned by linking to a Chase checking account, this is a good point. As the (newly added!) table above shows, on a monthly spend of $1,000, and making 40 transactions during the month, you can earn an extra $5 per month by linking to your Chase checking account. Again, many thanks for calling this out and helping me improve the post!

Eric is correct, the summary of the points on this website does not explain how many bonus points you pick up. Its amazing how many bonus points you can earn on multiple small purchases.

If you are a Chase checking customer the Chase Freedom credit card gives you a few more bonuses worth mentioning.

1) For every purchase, you also get an additional 10% bonus points.

2) For every purchase (no matter the amount), you will also earn an additional 10 points.

So, for example, if you make 1 purchase of $10, you will earn 21 points (10 base points + 1 10% extra + 10 bonus points.)

Finally, also worth mentioning, if you purchase your airline tickets through their rewards program website (ultimaterewards.com) you will earn 2% back. And their airline ticket prices are just as competitive as expedia or orbitz.
